Engagement Spotlight- Courtney + Christian

Engagement sessions are so special to me. I love getting to know my clients during this time. I can't tell you how many sessions where I come home feeling like I just made two new friends. Many couples have never had professional portraits before their engagement session and so they are Ner-Vous! That is also one of my favorite parts of the session- seeing how a couple relates to one another when they are feeling unsure about something. Do they cling to one another and have private little conversations? Do they giggle every time they look at the other person? I learn a lot about a couple and their magical love bond from these sweet snuggle sessions.

The engagement session develops trust. Many times the view from inside the camera looks totally different then from where the couple are standing. I once made a couple pose outside a bathroom wall and they were very confused. They got their photos back and loved it so much they made a great big canvas print out of that picture! The engagement session helps us get to know one another-- our styles, our senses of humor and it also develops trust between us too. Having a photograph taken can be an intimate thing! You want to look your best. It helps if you like and trust the person behind the camera, so you can feel your best in front of it.

Christian and Courtney, awww well- I'm sort of in lovvvvve with their engagement session in downtown Corpus Christi. I love their look for a downtown shoot. It was chic and sophisticated. These two were very giggly when facing each other. They kept the flirty vibe as we walked all around downtown finding the good light and the good texture.

They were willing to go a little adventure to a rooftop that over looked the bay. I guess my brain was too busy trying to work out what I was going to do with my clients when we got there that I had a total dummy moment. I scouted the location before our shoot started to make sure that it wasn't going to be too windy. When I arrived to the roughly 6 story building, I pressed the elevator button. Nothing seemed to happen, but I wasn't going to give up so easily! I climbed the stairs to the top of the building, panting my way to the top! It was great, and not as windy as thought it might have been. Just for kicks I pressed the elevator button to go down and it came! I told Courtney and Christian we would have to walk up and ride down and they were game so off we went! Christian ran back to the car to put his phone up and we marched on to the top. Right as we get there Christian pops out of the elevator! OF COURSE IF IT GOES DOWN THAN IT GOES UP! The elevator worked just fine, I suppose I was just impatient. Well, either way we got our cardio for the day

Check out their photos and prepare to swoooooon <3
